Just In: Pakistan spearhead batter Asad Shafiq scores the 1st century in the ongoing Kashmir Premier League season 2. Asad, who enlisted in the Overseas Warriors as a Captain, jumps back into the limelight after achieving this milestone in last night’s clash against Mirpur Royals.

The experienced international cap-owning cricketer Asad Shafiq has scored 112 runs off 60 balls against the Royals after coming out as an opener alongside Umer Zeeshan. His aggressive innings also helped his squad to post a defendable total of 188 runs for the opposition.

Asad’s sensational innings included 16-fours and 3-sixes against the firm bowling attack of the Royals. Apart from playing splendid knock, the right-handed batter has also partnered-innings with Kamran Ghulam and Azam Khan for 39 and 64 runs, respectively.

His phenomenal innings have also drawn the attention of the Selection Committee as the batter is looking committed to making a comeback on National Team after being struck in a lean patch for a long time. In a recent interview, he admitted this stance and said, “If I am lucky, I will play for Pakistan again. A comeback for Pakistan has not been made a matter of life and death for me.”

Asad Shafiq made his International debut in 2010, and within no time, the batter became an integral part of Pakistan’s Test squad for his consistent performances. However, Shafiq failed to continue his legacy with the bat and was dropped out of the team by selectors.
