Just In: Pakistan is ready to kick start their first-ever ODI series against the Netherlands under the captaincy of Baber Azam. The 1st ODI match of the series will be played on 16th August 2022 in Rotterdam.

While talking to the Sports Channel on the sidelines of training camp, Baber Azam shared his words ahead of this crucial series. He said, “I do follow Netherlands Cricket and I am impressed with their cricketing passion. I am hopeful that the series starting tomorrow will go a long way to promote the game in this region.”

“We will not become complacent here and the players are ready to express themselves on the ground. In the absence of Shaheen Shah Afridi, this is an opportunity for youngsters to come forward and display their skills,” the skipper added.

Baber Azam also praised the hospitality and weather of the host country Netherlands. He said, “It’s great to be here in the Netherlands for the first time. The weather and the hospitality are very good here and we are being looked after really well.”

Pakistan will play three ODI matches against the Netherlands as a part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League. Green Caps holds 5th position with 90 points in this league. The team could jump to 2nd place if they managed to win all three games against the Netherlands.

The touring side is scheduled to participate in Asia Cup 2022, after finishing this series. That’s the reason they recall their first string players against the Netherlands to overcome their flaws and find out best combinations before the start of mega cricketing event.
