Just In: With a chaotic playing schedule ahead, the Pakistan Cricket Team is working hard to keep their pacers in good fitness. Green Caps will play a couple of White-Ball matches in the upcoming months, including the Asia Cup 2022 and the Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Meanwhile, Former Pakistan opener Salman Butt worries about Pakistan spearhead bowler Shaheen Afridi’s fitness issues. He said the Pakistan team could suffer during major ICC events if the leading pacer didn’t recover from his injury.

Butt believes without Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan’s pace attack wouldn’t be that effective in the upcoming events. However, Afridi’s absence would provide youngsters a chance to prove themselves in white ball cricket.

While speaking on his Youtube channel, Salman Butt said, “Without Shaheen, Pakistan’s attack will not be that impactful. At the same time, it’s an opportunity for youngsters like Naseem Shah and Shahnawaz Dahani.”

The left-arm-pacer, who made his debut in 2019, became an integral part of the Pakistan Cricket Team due to his match-winning performance. Afridi’s brilliant performance with the ball against India in T20 WC 2021 helped the Green Caps seize a historical 10-wickets victory over old rivals.

Unfortunately, the young pacer sustained a knee injury in the 1st test match against Sri Lanka, played last month. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation, while selectors are hoping for his return to the playing squad during the Asia Cup 2022.
