Judge Jennifer Dorsey dismissed a lawsuit filed by Catherine Mayorga of Nevada, who alleged that Cristiano Ronaldo raped her at a Las Vegas hotel in 2009.
During the hearing of the case in Las Vegas, the US District Judge dismissed the rape case against the football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and found the legal team behind the complaint guilty.
In a 42-page ruling released Friday, the judge accused Mayorga’s attorneys of misconduct and flagrant violations of due process and said that, as a result, Mayorga had lost his right to pursue the case. The opportunity is lost. American media said Mayorga’s lawyers actually moved to voluntarily dismiss the case last month.
But Dorsey ruled that his repeated use of illegally obtained classified documents meant the case should have been dismissed with prejudice. Judge Dorsey wrote in his ruling that nothing less than a dismissal with prejudice would cleanse the taint that has permeated this case since its inception and preserve the integrity of the litigation process.
It is to be noted that Mayorga filed a complaint in September last year alleging that Ronaldo had sexually assaulted her. Ronaldo has strongly denied the allegations. He denied the allegations.
