Hello and welcome to our coverage of the tri-series between New Zealand, Pakistan and Bangladesh. We get our first look at the hosts New Zealand today. Pakistan were off to a winning start yesterday as they brushed aside Bangladesh with considerable ease. As is his wont, Mohammad Rizwan was the main contributor in the win. Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Nawaz, too, had good games.

Check out the live score of the 2nd T20 match between New Zealand and Pakistan as part of the New Zealand T20 Tri Series 2022. Tv or ESPNStar’s YouTube channel.

But you’d expect New Zealand to pose a stiffer challenge to Pakistan here. The last time these teams met was at the World Cup last year. Pakistan emerged victorious in a thriller there. New Zealand last played T20Is in August, emerging two-one winners against West Indies.

Glenn Phillips was the man of the series with 134 runs in three games there. Apart from that series and one against India, New Zealand haven’t played any major sides since last year’s World Cup final, so they’ll be glad for this opportunity to be really tested.

khawaja ikram u: “Nawaz and shadab dont have too much of a consistent batting record…if u cannot play well at 6, 7 and 8 in twenty twenty cricket than generally u wont be consistent at 4 and 5…just ask hem to score a twenty wherever they bat…using the long handle at 4 and 5 just means they will become like another failure asif ali…asif ali is no batsman and just tell him to swing at every ball…i dont know what has happened to haider ali…you cant remain in a team just to field….”

7.08pm The national anthems are done and we’re all set. Out walk the players. Finn Allen will take strike. Haris Rauf, surprisingly, will start the proceedings for Pakistan. He doesn’t usually take the new ball.

6.55pm The last time these teams met, Asif Ali played a blinder to take Pakistan home in a tricky chase. But his recent form, including the rest of Pakistan’s middle-order, has been a worry. They didn’t get much of a hit against Bangladesh as the top-order did the bulk of the job. But Pakistan will want the middle-order to step up and gain some confidence ahead of the World Cup. For New Zealand, Ish Sodhi could become the second man and first male spinner to reach 100 T20I wickets. He starts the series on 99 wickets.

6.43pm New Zealand have won the toss and opted to bat. Pakistan are unchanged.

Pakistan: Babar Azam (C), Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Haider Ali, Asif Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim, Haris Rauf, Shahnawaz Dahani

New Zealand: Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Kane Williamson, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, James Neesham, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Blair Tickner, Ish Sodhi

Faizan sabir: “Greetings, it’s been always great when these two teams play together t20I, as we know Pakistan’s batters are struggling so it would be so delightful to see these batters against toughest attack of NZ.One suggestion here from my side for Pakistan cricket, they should believe in their bowling side and consider it as their strength that’s why there is no need to go for chase just put a good total on the board and restrict opponent team under that total.”

Mehtab: “Match prediction: After 10 overs Pakistan 63/0, Rizwan* 39 runs/30 balls, Baber* 22 runs/30 balls, 2 extras.”

Kapeesh: “Yes Totally shadab at no 4 and Nawaz and number 5 both can hit a long ball and play well as we have seen in the psl and glimpses of in the Asia cup”

Tabish Qureshi : “Pakistan should use Shadab and Nawaz at no 4 and 5 respectively. They can surely give much better performance then so called “specialists middle order” Pakistan need to revise there plan before World Cup.”

Shakir Ali : “Pakistan middle order is weak point for long time I hope Pakistan openers play aggressive cricket in power play “

New Zealand will be without spin bowling allrounder Mitchell Santner who was away following the birth of his first child. Quick bowler Blair Tickner has been added to the squad as cover in his absence. That leaves New Zealand with just one genuine spin bowling option in Ish Sodhi at least for this match against Pakistan. In a setback to their chances in this tri-series, New Zealand will be without the services of allrounder Daryl Mitchell who is out of the series with a fractured finger. His World Cup participation, too, is in doubt. Mitchell had a great summer with the bat in Tests, but is a key member of the T20I squad as well, his importance underlined by his match winning effort in the semi-final of last year’s World Cup.

The hosts have been further depleted by Lockie Ferguson’s abdominal injury. With them set to play four matches in five days in the ongoing tri-series, the team management is unlikely to rush him into action. Given Ferguson’s history of injuries, New Zealand will manage him carefully and will assess him in the World Cup warm-up games in Brisbane. Adam Milne, however, is fit again, having recovered from an Achilles injury. He hasn’t played a competitive game since making his IPL debut for CSK in March earlier this year.

JOYDEEPSINGHGIL: “To dismiss Rizwan especially in T20I for bowlers has been hard work. He has been playing in this T20i format brilliantly. I’m pretty much sure he will be the next batsman who will score 3000 runs in T20I “

Abdul: “Hoping for Asif firey sixes today “

Shakil Ahmad: “If any team want to win any mega event, every eleven players had to contribute. At this time only two batters of Pak team are contributing and rest are pathetic. Need to remove all discrepancies in batting department before entering into T20 WC as fighting against the team like Aus., Eng. Ind. And NZ, you have to keep all weapons strong.”

Pakistan vs Bangladesh vs New Zealand T20 Tri-Series 2022: PAK vs Ban Live PTV Sports Match Today. Since the last tri-series involving three full-member international teams, more than three years have passed. This alone distinguishes this series from others, and the impending T20 World Cup will make every match even more significant.

Pakistan and Bangladesh will begin the competition. Due to the fact that both Asian sides are in the same group at the T20 World Cup, games between them will have a bit more weight. Inexplicably, they did not face each other at all during the Asia Cup.

Bangladesh is experiencing a dismal stretch in Twenty20 cricket. It was eliminated from the Asia Cup without a victory and nearly humiliated by the UAE in Dubai. The conditions in Christchurch are conventionally identical to those in which Bangladesh struggles.

The dearth of batting strength in Bangladesh’s lineup is well-known, and there is no simple solution. Shakib Al Hasan’s return will be beneficial, although Bangladesh’s most recent defeats occurred while he was available.

With the bat, Litton Das and Afif Hossain might play a significant role. We are pessimistic about Bangladesh’s chances against a formidable Pakistani squad in conditions that could be advantageous.

Bangladesh could perhaps perform better than predicted in the bowling lineup. Ebadot Hossain and Taskin Ahmed have a respectable level of speed and are capable of obtaining a steep bounce. With Mustafizur Rahman in the lineup, Bangladesh’s fast-bowling squad might be excellent. Mehidy Hasan will serve as the alternative to spin.

PAKISTAN

Pakistan is struggling with its T20 strategy, as the need to score runs more rapidly is evidently weighing heavily on its mind. We believe this discussion of strike rate is more sophisticated than is commonly believed. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are, and have been for some time, the most consistent tandem in Twenty20 cricket. They also have an exceptional bowling attack, hence their par score is slightly lower than that of other teams.

Also, Pakistan’s middle order is not very reliable. We believe Shan Masood will play a crucial role and excel in relatively challenging situations. Even though Pakistan has a plenty of batting depth on paper, its batting can be put under strain if it loses a few early wickets.

Pakistan’s bowling lineup is arguably the most entertaining in the world. Haris Rauf is one of the world’s top Twenty20 bowlers and will always be a factor, while Shaheen Afridi is likely to return to the team. Uncertain is if he will play in this match or continue to heal.
