Christchurch is ready for the clash of the titans as Pakistan take on West Indies, the two sides looking for their first victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. It’s just a matter of a couple of hours now before the game gets underway.
The wicket at Christchurch provides good scoring opportunities to the batsmen and, therefore, it is expected to be yet another high scoring affair.
West Indies went past 300 in their last game against Ireland after having a shaky start. But they will be up against a far better bowling attack now so they’ll have to be very careful.
Pakistani batsmen must have to show some flair at this stage. If they go well today, Pakistan are surely the favorites to win this one.
Only Sammy and Simmons were the major run getters for West Indies in their opening match against Ireland, which is certainly an area of great concern for them.
If they have to challenge Pakistan in the next match, they will certainly have to come up with a proper plan and their top order must have to put up a brave show against a firing bowling attack of Pakistan.
Simmons scored a brilliant 102 in the last match and is currently in good form. So, he will have great responsibility on his shoulders.
West Indian bowling has a big question mark on it as of now. They conceded way too many runs against Ireland and cannot afford to bowl the same channel against Pakistan.
So, they’ll have to come disciplined today in all three departments of the game if they have to challenge Pakistan.
Pakistan bowled wonderfully well in the latter part of the innings in the match against India and that would certainly have give much of confidence to their bowlers. They will be expected to come up with an even better performance today as it will be Pakistani bowling which will certainly prove to be the difference between the two sides.
Pakistani batsmen are still not finding their rhythm and Misbah takes all the responsibility in all the matches. But this has to end now.
Harris Sohail played some good shots in his short innings of 36 against India and will have to prove his mettle yet another time here. Sohaib Maqsood and Umar Akmal will also be in the spotlight.
Sohail Khan picked up 5 in the last match and will be the key player for Pakistan with the ball. Yasir Shah can also play a vital role as well.
It is expected to be a tough fight with West Indian batsmen in good form and Pakistani bowling looking in good rhythm. Pakistan will be likely to win this one as West Indies couldn’t defend a big total even against a side like Ireland.
West Indies and Pakistan have faced each other in 126 ODIs so far and West Indies are clearly ahead with 68 victories to their name. 3 matches were tied between the two sides.
