International Cricket Council has decided to organize another edition of Champions Trophy in June 2013 that will be hosted by England at the Oval, Cardiff and Edgbaston Cricket stadiums. The tournament will start from 6th of June and will end on 23rd June concluding the team entitled as CHAMPIONS. The event comprises of eight best cricket teams of the world named as Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh (four from South Asia), England (the hosts), Australia, West Indies and New Zealand. The teams are divided into two groups where all of them need to play three matches to prove their eligibility for the semi final stage.
Before these group matches, the Champions Trophy officials have organized warm up games among the teams and every team needs to play two practice matches. The weather as well as stadium conditions of England are different from rest of the world due to which, it gets necessary for the teams (especially for South Asian teams) to have some practice sessions on these pitches. These warm up games will allow the teams to adapt conditions and formulate strategies that can be successful in such conditions.
South Africa and Pakistan are going to play their next warm up match on 3rd of June 2013 at Kennington Oval in London. The game has been decided to start at 09:30 GMT or 10:30 local. Pakistan’s first practice match was abandoned because of heavy rain in the city and it would result as a negative point for the team as South Africans are more experienced to play on these conditions and they have also play a practice match before.
The England pitches are famous for their pace, bounce and some special characteristics that always create problems for the batsmen to bat while distract bowlers from their line and length. Even though there are conditional problems for the Green Shirts but they are motivated to play well on those conditions as the team has recently played two one day series in these conditions just to maximize their improvements and check how much they are capable to play under the conditions.
Considering the pitch conditions of England, Misbah Ul Haq (captain) is confident that their bowling department has got every ingredient to perform brilliantly and they are favorable for their fast bowlers Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz, Ehsn Adil, Umar Aminand Asad Ali.
When their batting department is concerned, people will find some weaknesses in their performance including lack of abilities to play big shots, lack of confidence to perform well and more importantly, if one player fails to contribute big amounts rest of the team do not even try to lift the team to some defensive total. If the team Pakistan amends all these points then they will be able to smash every hurdle in their way towards the title. They have got talented and valuable batsmen in the form of Mohammad Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, Shoaib Malik, Nasir Jamsheed, Kamran Akmal and Imran Farhat. All of them are required to retain faith on their capabilities and must have to use every inch of their abilities to support their team.
When it comes to South African team, no doubt they are real players in cricket all over the world. Their batting, fielding and bowling departments are well trained, equipped and powerful to restrict their opponents to the possible lowest totals. The teams officials have made small changes in their squad as they know that they are already provided with a squad made for ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
